Over Yonder Serves Homestyle Cooking That Feels Like... Home!

Where Every Bite Tells a Story: Texas Homestyle Cooking Done Right

Over Yonder came to be after I (James Donovitz) decided I needed a challenge in my life. I am from far North Dallas and went to high school in Carrollton. I spent time trying to become a PRCA calf roper and worked in restaurants to help support my habit. I have been everything from a bus boy to a waiter to a bartender spanning establishments from Dallas to Las Vegas. I then went to Texas A&M to see if Veterinary medicine would be my calling. After a lot of thought I decided to go the human route and ended up at the University of Texas Medical Branch on the island of Galveston. After 24 years of practicing ER medicine I decided that it was time to retire…so I did. One day I was driving by J.D. Tadlock’s place (former owner of Buff’s) and I saw him in his barn so I drove in. I asked him what his level of interest would be selling “Buff’s, and the rest is history. Like most people a good meal puts me in a good frame of mind so when I thought about purchasing Buff’s it made sense. I always thought the food was great, and J.D was proud of the fact the food in his kitchen was made from scratch. It still is. Although I have made a few tweaks to the menu, for all practical purposes it continues to serve up some of the best home cooking anywhere around. The chef Felipe Able continues to provide our customers with a super menu with lots of variety just like J.D. and Beth provided their customers for 7 years. I am very proud to be a part of the Pilot Point community and am blessed that we can continue to provide our loyal customers with a comfortable atmosphere and the food and drinks they love. If your not a regular you soon will be. I will always stand by our motto “If it ain’t great…we ain’t got it”. Hope to see you soon.
